As I mentioned earlier NCAR have so many animals in our rescue and on our waiting list, we are struggling to cope with the demand. This time of year is always difficult for re-homing rescues, as there is an increase of animals coming in, due to holidays and people wanting to rehome their pets.
What we would like at NCAR is to have a database of approved foster carers, where we can call if we need help with certain animals from time to time. Recently we have seen a huge increase of county pounds, taking in dogs as strays, and then not having the facilities to take on the dogs after the 7 day period. These pounds are usually just kennels without re-homing facilities. After the 7 day in most cases these dogs are destroyed unless they can find suitable homes or rescue to take them on and then rehome them. So NCAR have been involved with this recently where we have saved and taken on dogs from these pounds and either taken them into our kennels, or they have gone into our approved foster carers.
These foster carer will be approved by our charity, we will do home checks and go through the same procedure as if you where adopting a dog from NCAR. We obviously only want loving homes for these abandoned animals so we are on the look out to find suitable families and loving homes, so if you can help with fostering please contact Nicky or Karen on 01745 560546 or email us on nickyowen@ncar.org.uk or karen@ncar.org.uk
If you can help one our rescue animals please visit www.ncar.org.uk or call us on 01745 560546 during office hours.
