Despite her short legs, a heavy body and her breed's ordinarily keen tracking nose, Molly the dog was found across multiple state lines in Prescott Valley, Arizona after running off in Fort Hood, Texas.
Molly's owner, stationed at the Fort Hood military base, said her dog ran off from a friend's home while she was serving in Iraq in 2009.

Her owner, who wasn't identified and is currently deployed overseas according to the Daily Courier, said she hadn't heard any news on her dog since she ran away and was shocked by the news.
It was on July 7 Molly was caught while seen running lose in the area of Prescott Valley.

'This is a success story that highlights the need to better identify our pets,' Sgt Bonney said.
'To many, pets are a member of the family. In addition to a well-marked collar, a microchip is an invaluable means for identifying lost pets,' he said.
